Where are you located?

The Ballina Motel in Napier enjoy's a fantastic central location – conveniently positioned midway between Napier (8kms/10mins) and Hastings (12kms/15mins) city centres, and 10 mins from Hawke's Bay Airport. What are your Reception hours?

Monday to Friday 7:00am to 9:00pm.
Saturday and Sunday 8:00am to 8:00pm

When can I check in?

Check-in time is normally after 2:00pm, though our rooms are normally ready by 1:00pm. We will endeavour to accommodate an earlier check-in for you, however, it is dependent on when the previous nights guests depart, and the time that we require in order to service the room for you. You are most welcome to leave your bags here if the room is not ready on arrival.

I'm not arriving until after 9.00pm. How do I check in?

Please advise our Reception team on 0508 22 55 42 or (06) 845-0648, and they will advise you how to check in and collect your key.

When do I need to check out?

Check out time is 10:00am. If you need to stay later, please make arrangements with our Reception team. If you intend to check out before 7:00am, settlement of your account the night before would be appreciated.

Do you have off street car parking?

The Ballina Motel provides complimentary undercover and outdoor car parks for all guests.

Are all the rooms on the ground floor?

Seven rooms are at ground level, with adjacent car parking for maximum convenience. Nine rooms are on the first floor, most with a private balcony drenched in all day sun.

Is there wheelchair access?

Yes, we have two full disability equipped access studios on the ground floor with easy access from the car park.

Do you cater for children?

At Ballina Motel it's all about making your stay relaxed and stress free and taking care of your 'little ones' is first and foremost. Guests travelling with babies can be provided with a complimentary portacot and linen. Baby baths and highchairs are also available and we can organise hireage of car seats if required. Please let us know your requirements when making your reservation.

We also have all SKY children's television channels for older children. A children's playground is just a few minutes away.

Do you have a baby sitting service?

We recommend Rockmybaby nanny and baby sitting service.

Rockmybaby is the preferred nanny and baby sitting agency for many accommodation providers in New Zealand.

All Rockmybaby's nannys and baby sitters are police checked, reference checked and interviewed.

Bookings can be made online through www.rockmybaby.co.nz or hawkesbay@rockmybaby.co.nz or by telephoning 800Rockmybaby (or 0800-762-569 - NZ only) or Janine on 021-580-077.

When families (or accommodation providers) make a booking online, it is automatically text and emailed to all of Rockmybaby's approved babysitters in the region. As soon as a baby sitter accepts, you receive their profile via email, and then the baby sitter will phone to introduce herself and confirm details.

A $20 booking fee applies, or $25 if Rockmybaby makes the booking for you over the phone.

Do all the rooms have spa baths?

All of our one and two bedroom apartments, and some of our executive studios have double spa baths.

Why "triple sheeting"?

Breadspreads collect dirt, absorbing everything from odours, body fluids, food and beverage spills, dust and grime. And Lord knows what may have been going on on top of that bedspread .... shudder!

Hotels and motels do not launder bedspreads after each guest checks out. They don't get washed very often!

Doesn't exactly give you the warm fuzzies to think about how long it may have been since that motel or hotel bedspread may have been washed, does it?

That's why we don't have bedspreads!

What is "triple sheeting"?

Triple sheeting uses three flat sheets to achieve a luxurious sleep experience with freshly laundered sheets covering all bedding. The first flat sheet goes down over the mattress protector, above this lies the second sheet. A contentental blanket is then placed on top of the second sheet and a final third sheet is placed on top of this.

This method of making the bed (used in leading hotels around the world) is a little more work for us and increases our laundry costs, but more importantly ensures a hygienic and luxurious nights sleep for you.

What eating options do I have when staying at the Ballina Motel?

The Ballina Motel is within easy walking distance to several excellent restaurants and a short drive to an even greater selection of Hawke's Bay's top restaurants. Many of these operate a 'charge back' service. In addition, guests can order takeaway or have excellent meals delivered to their room from the nearby Duke of Gloucester Restaurant.

Is breakfast included in the room rate?

Normally our room rates do not include breakfast, however, from time to time we do offer special packages, which may include breakfast. Breakfast can be ordered and is served in your rooms from 7:00am weekdays and 8:00am on weekends. Please complete the menu sheet (available in your room) and leave it with Reception before 9:00pm the night before. Tick your choices and use one menu for each guest.

Are internet and fax facilities available?

Wired and wireless internet is available in all rooms – an access code can be obtained from Reception. Guests can send a fax from the Reception and receive faxes on our dedicated line +64 6 845 0649. Please ask if you have any other business requirements.

I have important business meetings – will I be able to work and rest in peace and quiet?

Rest assured – all of our rooms are separated by concrete walls to ensure quiet and privacy, giving you undisturbed time to work and sleep.

I need a place to hold a conference or seminar – can you help?

Certainly! Ballina Motel has a small air-conditioned conference room which is ideal for meetings, trade display or job interviews. We offer ample, comfortable seating, all equipment and a full catering service. If you have a large group of people and require a larger room(s) we can also recommended a number of venues close to the Ballina Motel.

Can I arrange to have a small meeting at your motel?

Yes. We have an ideal room suitable for 6–8 persons.

I haven't been to Napier before, and I'm not sure what to do and see

No problem! Our reception team will be happy to guide and advise you on sightseeing and activities. Not only can they provide a comprehensive collection of tourists brochures, but their many years living in Napier have given them extensive local knowledge and insight into the area – so they will know just how to make your visit a truly memorable one.
