As cyclists the Ballina Motel is very cycle friendly and conveniently located in the middle of the Hawke's Bay cycleways - we are the ideal place to base yourself for a cycle holiday in Hawke's Bay.

Hawke's Bay has an extensive network of cycleways for you to explore, with three rides, the water, the landscapes and the wineries rides, forming part of the New Zealand national cycleway.

The Water ride

This ride is flat, easy and perfect for families Loops from Napier's Marine Parade through Ahuriri and Westshore to Bay View back to the Hawke's Bay Airport and around the Ahuriri Estuary to Church Road onto Puketapu and Awatoto, back to Napier's Marine Parade.

The Landscapes ride

The Landscapes Ride explores the coastal communities of Haumoana, Te Awanga and Clifton, with views of Cape Kidnappers before heading inland to the more challenging Tukituki River Valley road loop. The flat off-road trail overlooks vineyards, orchards and the Tuki Tuki River, and enjoys changing scenery and views of the impressive Te Mata Peak.

The Wineries ride

The relaxed wineries ride loops through Hawke's Bays wine-growing areas of Bridge Pa, Gimblett Gravels and the Ngatarawa Triangle. The terrain is flat and passes numerous award-winning wineries that afford plenty of places to stop and rest along the way.
